THMF - THE HIGH NELLIE CYCLE
TOUR OF TRIM CO. MEATH
Assemble at Jack Quinn's pub no later than 6pm
SEE OUR TOWN THE OLD FASHIONED WAY
With hundreds of cyclists, many of whom dress in vintage clothing, our High Nellie tour sets off from Jack Quinn’s & is the forerunner to our Festival.
Long before the motor car the High Nellíe was the most common mode of transport in Ireland so its no wonder we would showcase this transport method and no better way than in our, High Nellíe Cycle Tour of Trim.
This is one of our most popular events and usually consists of 300 or more cyclists. It is the forerunner to our Haymaking Festival and normally takes place one week before.
We encourage participants to arrive early for registration and bike rental. It is also OK to bring your own bike as bikes for rental often do not cover the volume of people attending.
Child participants must be aged from ten years on. We would also highly recommend that safety equipment be worn especially in the case of child cyclists.
Some of our seasoned participants like to adorn themselves in period style vintage clothing, while others just like to costume dress for fun; and why wouldn’t they when there’s a little prize on offer for best dressed participant.
Entertainment is normally held at Jack Quinn’s pub and is usually provided by the legendry Eddie Caffery from LMFM and the green scene. The craic is tremendous and a great time is had by all in attendance.
